  • Laboratory: TESLA Dynamic Coils
Scientist leader: Martino Borgo, General Manager
    • Key personnel
    • Martino Borgo, born in Italy and studied there to obtain a Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Artificial intelligence and robotics in 1990. In 1991 he started working at Epicon Alkmaar BV (predecessor of FUTURA) as an R&D Engineer. He became Engineering manager in 1999 at FUTURA, a company that has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing products for the MR market and currently has about 93 FTE. Martino expanded his career within FUTURA as he later became Operations Manager and ultimately Managing Director. He is now CEO of Tesla Dynamic Coils.

    • Catalina Arteaga de Castro, Operations Manager Catalina Arteaga de Castro, born in Chile where she studied Physics to get her degree in 2005. In 2008 she got a M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Image Sciences in The Netherlands and started a PhD trajectory in high field MRI. In 2013 she got her PhD degree from the Utrecht University. Later she worked as a Postdoc at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and at the University Medical Centre Utrecht. From her scientific career more than twenty scientific articles has been published and she has been
involved in more than twenty conference proceedings. Since 1 July 2019 she has become the Operations Manager at Tesla Dynamic Coils.

    • Mark van Uden, born in the Netherlands where he studied and acquired a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Eng). Later he worked at Philips Medical Systems as an RF engineer until 2006. From there he was a Test Engineer at NXP in 2007 and in the same year he went to the Radboud University Medical Center to work as RF-Coil Engineer in the Biomedical MR research group where he was also (co)-author for multiple publications. This was until 2019. He briefly worked at MR Coils BV as Quality Engineer and since 1 July 2019 he is the Engineer Manager at Tesla Dynamic Coils.

Tesla Dynamic Coils BV is a new small company located in Zaltbommel in the Gelderland region.
TDC was founded in May 2019 by the shareholders of the Tesla Group (UK). Tesla DC is a company dedicated to the development and manufacturing of radio-frequency (RF) technology for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Tesla DC has its own R&D and therefore works in close collaboration with Universities and Medical Centres to expand their product portfolio by incorporating new RF technology.
Tesla DC is currently developing RF products for Philips, Siemens and GE clients. They also pretend to expand their market to combined MR systems such as MR-Linac and MR-PET. Some of these projects are also part of European subsidies like EUROSTARS, RVO and other European consortiums.
With the collaboration of FUTURA, a daughter company of the Tesla Group (UK), dedicated to composite materials, mostly dedicated to the manufacture of MR bores and gradient technologies, Tesla DC plans to increase their knowledge in RF coils in order to assemble RF – Body coils to a higher level of integration.
Currently, Tesla Dynamic Coils has 18 employees.

Tesla Dynamic Coils strategically located in Zaltbommel to be evenly close to collaborating centers such as Utrecht Medical Centre Utrecht, Leiden University Medical Centre, Amsterdam Medical Centre and Radboud Medical Centre. All these university centres are in possession of high field MR scanners (7T) and clinical standard MRI scanners (i.e. 1.0 T, 1.5 T and 3 T). In addition, these centres have different vendors scanners, which makes it particularly advantageous for TDC and the testing of the manufactured products.
